Open Question: Is it true that Hong Kong and Chinese sellers sell bad items on eBay, especially with electronics?

How does this work? If I buy a camera made by Sony from eBay, wouldn't expect it to be made by sony manufacturers? Is it true that Chinese/Hong Kong sellers get there electronics from bad manufacturers that badly make their items? Would you buy a $500 camera from Hong Kong/China on eBay?
